The site is in an enviable location with fantastic views to the rear across open countryside. Initially there was a very tired 1970’s dormer bungalow on the site which was in poor structural repair.
We applied successfully to remove the old property and replace with a new replacement dwelling. These applications are not straightforward but we were assisted by Gary Moss of MSC Planning and managed to gain consent.
The layout of the house is not so conventional and as you enter the front door you drop down half a flight of stairs to the lower floor or up half a flight to the first floor. In doing this the property is able to sit into the landscape more than a conventional dwelling which minimises visual impact from the roadside, but also allows better engagement with the outside space to the rear.
The living room on the ground floor provides direct access to the garden and pool and is a superb entertaining space. For cosier days when the doors remain closed there is also another living room directly above which takes advantage of the far reaching views. This room benefits from a balcony too and is a great innovation.
The owner loves the property and their grandchildren really love the pool!
